The CRYLON® XT opal sheet is a milky-white acrylic sheet that transmits light whilst ensuring a soft, even distribution of light. As a result, this opal plastic sheet is widely used in applications where lighting needs to be visible without individual light sources being noticeable.
The material combines a modern look with practical properties. The sheet is lightweight, strong and UV-resistant. This makes the opal sheet suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Examples include illuminated signage, light boxes or interior applications where a soft and even diffusion of light is desired.
What is an opal acrylic sheet?
An opal acrylic sheet is a semi-transparent plastic sheet made of PMMA (acrylic). The material allows light to pass through, but is not completely transparent. As a result, the light is diffused across the surface. This creates a soft, even distribution of light without any harsh spots.
The CRYLON® XT opal sheet is produced using an extrusion process. In this process, molten acrylic is formed into a sheet by passing it through a die. This production method ensures consistent quality and a smooth surface. Thanks to its diffuse light diffusion, this sheet is particularly suitable for lighting applications, such as light boxes or LED panels.
