Polycarbonate channel sheets

Polycarbonate multi-wall sheets are lightweight, insulating plastic sheets that let plenty of daylight through whilst retaining heat. Whether you’re looking for a polycarbonate multi-wall sheet for your roof, you can order it made to measure from us, in thicknesses ranging from 4 to 40 mm and lengths of up to 10 metres. This makes us one of the few suppliers in the Netherlands to supply multi-wall sheets up to this length. Most other suppliers stop at 6 metres.

What is a polycarbonate channel sheet?

A polycarbonate multi-wall sheet, also known as a carbonate sheet, consists of several layers of polycarbonate with hollow air channels between them. These air channels provide the sheet’s insulating properties: still air traps heat and reduces heat loss. The thicker the sheet and the more walls it has, the higher the insulation value. This makes the multi-wall sheet a lightweight alternative to glass, with much higher impact resistance.

Multi-wall sheets for canopies, roofs and skylights

Multi-wall sheets are most commonly used as polycarbonate sheets for roofing, such as for a carport, veranda or patio canopy. For these applications, customers often opt for a thickness of 16 mm, as this offers a good balance between insulation and weight.

Multi-wall sheets are also widely used as polycarbonate roofing sheets, for example on skylights and industrial roofs, where both daylight and insulation are required. For polycarbonate skylights, multi-wall sheets are a suitable choice, as they allow sufficient daylight through whilst retaining heat, ensuring a pleasant and energy-efficient indoor climate.

For larger canopies and skylights, another advantage is that you can order sheets up to 10 metres in one piece from us, without any unnecessary joints or connecting profiles.

What thickness of hollow-core slab is suitable for your project?

The correct thickness depends on the desired insulation value, the weight and the application. We offer the following options:

  • 4 and 6 mm: lightweight and compact, for window frames and small greenhouses
  • 8 and 10 mm: a good balance between insulation and weight, commonly used in greenhouses
  • 16 mm: generous insulation for conservatories, skylights and canopies
  • 32 and 40 mm: maximum insulation for cladding and sports halls

Properties of the carbonate sheet

A carbonate sheet combines four properties that are useful in virtually any project: high thermal insulation, high light transmission, UV resistance to discolouration and high impact resistance. This combination makes the sheet ideal for situations where you do not want to choose between daylight and insulation, but need both. The sheets are available in clear and opal finishes, in lengths ranging from 1,000 mm to 10,000 mm.

Fitting and accessories

To install hollow-core slabs correctly, you will need suitable profiles and sealing materials. We supply complete mounting profiles for hollow-core slabs, so that the panels fit together properly and remain weather-resistant. Would you prefer to build using a complete kit?
