The properties of this plastic
HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is a thermoplastic polymer made from ethylene. The material is somewhat susceptible to scratching, but at the same time is fairly soft yet very strong. It is highly resistant to weathering and UV radiation and has high impact resistance. Due to its low water absorption and good chemical resistance, this plastic is suitable for many applications, such as in the chemical industry, the food industry and the construction sector.

What is the difference between HDPE and HMPE?
Both HDPE and HMPE are types of polyethylene, but they differ in density and wear resistance. HMPE has a higher molecular weight, which results in better wear resistance and even greater impact resistance. This variant is therefore often used in applications involving extreme loads and friction, such as machine parts, sliding surfaces and conveyor belts. The high-density material in this category is more versatile and is widely used for pipes, tanks, packaging and, for example, chopping boards.
High-density polyethylene film
One of the most commonly used types is the black, waterproof film. It is used in agriculture, gardening, the packaging industry and the construction sector. Examples include its use as protective sheeting in greenhouses, pond liners, beneath pavements (to prevent root penetration), food packaging and as a damp barrier in walls and floors. The film is also highly resistant to chemicals and UV radiation.
