What is a plexiglass mirror best suited for?
A plastic mirror is used where a glass mirror is too heavy or prone to breakage. An acrylic mirror plate combines clear reflection with the lightness and durability of plexiglass. These mirrors are versatile and are used in interior design, shop fitting and art projects. A see-through plexiglass mirror, also known as a one-way mirror, offers ability to see from one side, while the other side acts as a mirror. This is often used for privacy and surveillance.
Some examples of applications you use the shatterproof acrylic mirror for include: homes, hotels, presentation rooms, museums, stands and shops. But also for plexiglass displays, furniture, signing and lettering, bars, table tops and structured mirror surrounds. Plexiglas sheets are also very workable for customisation, where you can think of sawing, kitting, limited bending and blowing, milling, lasering, drilling tapping, engraving and lettering. Please note that plexiglass is less suitable for outdoor applications, as the metal can corrode from the end.
The advantages of a plexiglass mirror
One of the main advantages of a plastic mirror is that it is much less likely to break than an ordinary mirror. In fact, plexiglass is practically unbreakable. Another advantage over ordinary mirrors is that plexiglass is a lot lighter in weight and easy to work with. Moreover, Plexiglas mirror plate (Plexiglas®/PMMA) is no less than 25 times stronger than glass. At Kunststof Forte, Plexiglas sheet is in stock in 11 different colours in a thickness of 3 mm. Mirror acrylate is lightweight, impact-resistant, anti-reflex, one-sided scratch-resistant, virtually unbreakable and has virtually no thickness tolerance.
