GRP plastic gratings – strong, lightweight and durable
GRP plastic gratings (fibreglass-reinforced plastic) combine high strength with low weight. These plastic gratings have a long service life, are easy to install and are completely corrosion-resistant. Thanks to their high load-bearing capacity, they are widely used in landings, walkways and work floors, platforms, walkways and staircases. At Kunststof Forte, GRP walkway gratings are available in standard heights of 25, 30, 38 and 50 mm, in yellow, green, blue and grey.
What are GRP plastic gratings?
GRP plastic gratings are manufactured by combining glass fibre and resin in a mould. This creates a grid with excellent mechanical and chemical properties. The standard glass fibre to resin ratio is 35:35 and 65:35, ensuring optimum strength and durability. Read more about GRP (glass-reinforced plastic).
Different top layers
Our GRP gratings are available with a range of anti-slip surface finishes, each suitable for specific applications:
- Quartz top layer: A textured surface with a coarse grain structure. Ideal for outdoor use, such as on footbridges – prevents slipping and ice formation.
- Concave surface: A slightly curved surface with excellent slip resistance and no grainy texture. Suitable for indoor environments where hygiene and cleaning are important.
- Closed surface: For situations where leakage needs to be prevented. Fitted with an anti-slip coating as standard.
Types of resin for GRP gratings
- Type O – Orthophthalic polyester: For general use. Weather-resistant and fire-retardant (EN-13501-1).
- Type I – Isophthalic polyester: Greater chemical resistance and lower smoke emission in the event of a fire.
- Type V – Vinyl ester resin: For extreme chemical exposure and high fire resistance.
